“We cannot take him openly by force,” said the priest.

An answer to their problems came from one of the apostles, Judas Iscariot.1
He was a greedy man.
Judas went to the priests.
They offered him thirty silver coins if he would help them capture Jesus quickly and quietly.2
From then on, Judas saw an opportunity to hand over Jesus.

Jesus knew this would be his last supper on Earth with his apostles.

The Trial of Jesus
Just outside Jerusalem, there was a garden called Gethsemane.1
After their last supper, Jesus and the apostles went there.
Jesus walked a few steps further into the garden.2
Then he fell to the ground and prayed.
“Dear Father,” said Jesus.
“I know it must be done as you want, not as I want.3”
Jesus prayed so hard that sweat rolled down his face.
Soon after, a large crowd of angry people came down the path.4
There were several Roman soldiers in the crowd.

Pilate ordered his soldiers to crucify Jesus.

Jesus Comes Back
