What could a dangerous jungle and a common school possibly have in common? Wild animals, scarce resources, and harsh climates certainly are nothing like a comfortable classroom filled with routine homework assignments and games of dodgeball. Or are they?
Thịnh’s survival guide teaches us that not only is the wilderness similar to a school, but gives practical advice for navigating both. He doesn’t promise you’ll make it out of either alive, but he will certainly give you advice for increasing your chances.
Bullies and angry beasts; fishing line and pencils; a tall tree and the teachers’ room. When you are able to see the world like Thịnh does, you quickly learn that you should approach these seemingly unrelated things the same way if survival is on the line. If you can be resourceful, calm, determined and prepared as he explains, you will know how to make it through whatever situation you find yourself in.
21 rules may seem like a lot to have to memorize, but when your life is at risk, or you simply want to make it home from class without being bullied or given extra assignments, it’s not many at all.
This simple and straightforward survival guide gives you not only basic tips but some advanced insider knowledge, such as why you should convince a friend to let you use his or her locker or why it’s not a great idea to befriend a wolf.
We all go to school, but hopefully, we don’t all get stranded in a dangerous forest. Reading this book can help you endure hallways and homerooms while preparing you, just in case, for a menacing jungle. As Thịnh would certainly agree, you can never be too prepared! But don’t take my advice, follow rule Number One and breathe. Then follow what I think should be Rule Number One B: Read this book!
